Nike: The Nike Swoosh is one of the most famous logos in the world, but it actually started as a small school project.

In 1971, Phil Knight asked a graphic design student, Carolyn Davidson at Portland State University to create a logo for a new line of running shoes. Davidson designed the Swoosh to show motion and speed, inspired by the wing of the Greek goddess Nike.
